A medical assistant who has earned the American Association of Medical Assistants, Certified Medical Assistant®, CMA (AAMA), credential is required to obtain 60 continuing education units (CEUs) every five (5) years to keep his/her CMA (AAMA) credential current. CEUs are to be earned as follows; 10 in administrative, 10 in general, and 10 in clinical. The remaining 30 CEUs can be obtained in any of these categories.
