Fall 2011 Update

We have had, what seemed like a short summer break, which was used to spend more time with friends and family. We are now back and ready to get started to the task at hand, which is doing our part to enable medical assisting professionals to enhance and demonstrate the knowledge, skills and professionalism required by employers and patients.

Linn Benton Chapter encompasses the mid-Willamette Valley, north of Eugene, and south of Salem. Serving the areas medical assistants with education and networking.

LBMA continues to have monthly meetings on the 2^nd Thursday of each month, alternating between Good Samaritan Regional Hospital in Corvallis and Albany Samaritan Hospital in Albany. The 1 hour, 1 CEU credit educational meeting starts promptly at 6:00PM with the Board Meeting with everyone invited to attend at 7:00 PM.

We as a Chapter, continue to struggle to get member participation in the business of the Chapter. We are continuingly working with the instructors at Linn Benton Community College in keeping the MA students up-to-date on the monthly educational and business meetings and encouraging them to attend as many as possible. We are considering having an actual meeting at the college soon for better exposure to our society. We will be asking Paula Purdy, CMA (AAMA) Team Leader, Membership/Marketing, Oregon Society of Medical Assistants. to speak to the students and members about the field of Medical Assistants and what you can do with your life skills.

LBMA will be hosting the Winter Quarterly this year. The meeting will be held January 21^st at the Samaritan Lebanon Hospital this year. Further details of the event will be announced.
