Fall 2011 Update
Marion-Polk Chapter has been on summer break, but getting ready to get back to the business of medical assisting. The next educational meeting for MP Chapter is on Saturday, 10-22-11. Marion-Polk Chapter is hosting the OSMA Fall Quarterly meeting. It will be held at the CHEC (community health education center) classrooms, located in building D of Salem Hospital. The registration form is available online at www.onlineosma.org. The topic for the day will be “Breast Cancer: Diagnostic, Treatment and Recovery Options”. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. and the meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. The OSMA board meeting will follow at 2:45 p.m. Anyone that is interested in attending the education may register for the event. All OSMA members are welcome to attend the OSMA board meeting.
Marion-Polk Chapter had summer education on 8-20-11. Leslie Ruminski spoke to the members on “Defining Difficult Differently”. This was a great program and all the attended were very pleased with the education they received.
Marion-Polk Chapter continues to have monthly member meetings, every month except July, August and December, at Creekside Dining, located in building D of Salem Hospital, beginning at 5:30 p.m., the first Wednesday of each month. Marion-Polk Chapter sent out postcards to all members to remind them of the dates of all upcoming meetings and education. The goal is to reach all members of MP Chapter, that may not have access to email or the OSMA website.
MP Chapter is hosting the 2013 OSMA Annual Conference. The conference committee is forming and planning is underway. Any and all members that are interested in helping in some way, please contact me at the email address provided. We will need all the help the members can provide to host this meeting. It will be a great one! Salem is always a popular location for the annual conference.
MP Chapter will be having their annual Christmas party on Wednesday, 12-7-11. The time and location will be announced in later email notifications.

Marion/Polk Chapter Information…
Marion-Polk Chapter of Medical Assistants has been active in the Salem area for many years. Marion-Polk Chapter encompasses the Salem area and surrounding communities. The Chapter meets monthly for “member” meetings, where business is conducted for the Chapter. These meetings are scheduled every month, except July, August and December. These meetings are held at Creekside Dining, located in building D of Salem Hospital at 5:30 p.m. The meeting dates vary month and month, but meeting notices are sent out by email to all members on the email list. Marion-Polk Chapter also provides educational opportunities for members. Educational meetings are held quarterly in the months of February, May, August and November. These meetings are held at the CHEC (Community Health Education Center), located in building D of Salem Hospital. The meeting schedule for 2012 is February 11, May 12, August 18 and November 3. These meetings are all held on Saturday and begin at 8:30 a.m. The meetings will be concluded by 12:00 p.m. and provide 3 CEUs to members at no charge to members.
