OSMA welcomes you to our Online JournalWelcome to the Oregon Society of Medical Assistants website, your continuous online state journal. We have recently made some changes and we hope you like what you see! The Oregon Society of Medical Assistants is a professional support entity for medical office and ancillary healthcare personnel who perform clinical and administrative duties. We are an affiliate of the American Association of Medical Assistants. Many of our members are Certified Medical Assistants, with the credential CMA(AAMA). Our organization requires recertification every five (5) years for our credential. We promote continuing education for that purpose as well as keeping pace with the current medical trends and practices for all members and non-members. For education information, click on “education” or go to www.aama-ntl.org for national level information. This website is used for communication purposes for our members and guests. Please feel free to contact our state president or chapter presidents for questions you may have. |

OSMA CLOTHES CLOSETOSMA is calling all professionals! We have started a Clothes Closet for any medical assistant who may need professional clothing for a job interview or a job. We are collecting suits, dresses, jackets, etc and scrub/uniforms of all sizes. For donations: Be sure the clothing is clean and repaired. Please put on hangers. For receivers: We are asking that you take one outfit only. All clothing is free, no questions asked. The Closet will be rotating to all OSMA state functions, and will be available in the back of the meeting room. At some point, if the amount gets too large to easily transport, we will donate to a needy charity. Our next “showing” will be at the Fall Quarterly Meeting in Portland, November 8th, 2008. So, if you are cleaning out your closets, please think of your fellow members and students who may be in need. For more information, please contact Molly Bilyeu, CMA(AAMA) |

How to Post Information on the Website:As you know, websites are an evolving entity. We are no different. This year we will be trying a few new things. The guidelines for submitting articles are:
Posting times: Quarterly information: Chapter, Team and Officer reports will be posted quarterly. Those months are: January, April, July and October. Please mark your calendars and plan accordingly. Other critical information, like monthly chapter newsletters, date changes, seminar registrations, etc, will be published monthly, as deemed necessary. Please send in a report even if your area may not be actively planning something. Perhaps set up a standard greeting with meeting times, etc, so that members and new members can find what they need. I would like to have a report from every officer, team leader and chapter president for each quarter. Both pathways: All information is due 15 days before it will be published. If the deadline is missed, it will go into the next months posting. Quarterly reports deadlines: December 1 (Holidays), March 15, June 15, and September 15. Email the articles by attachment to: JocelynKWillis@Comcast.net Be sure to put what you are sending on the subject line, example: “Web info: Lane Newsletter” Feel free to contact me with questions. I do reserve the right to gently edit your information when necessary. Remember that our website is accessible worldwide. |
