A Welcome From Our President
Welcome to the OSMA Website!
As President of OSMA, I want to thank you for visiting our website. OSMA is part of a tri-level organization that supports the education and right to practice for Certified Medical Assistants through AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants). OSMA (Oregon Society of Medical Assistants) is the State Society that serves the medical assistants in the state of Oregon.
Our goal is to provide information regarding the practice of medical assisting, continuing educational opportunities for our members and medical assistants throughout the state of Oregon and provide information on local Chapter levels for Chapter members. Each member of AAMA benefits from membership in the national organization (AAMA), the state level (OSMA) and the local Chapter level. Educational opportunities exist at all levels. All medical assistants are required to keep their credential current through continuing education. As a CMA (AAMA), members must earn 60 CEUs every 5 years in order to recertify. OSMA utilizes the website as a way to keep in touch with our members and make sure everyone knows where to get the CEUs they need.
AAMA is an organization open to all medical assistants, but most of our members have earned the CMA (AAMA) credential. The educational opportunities that are provided by OSMA are open to all medical assistants and membership entitles members to earn these CEUs at a discounted rate and often at no cost to the member. I would like to encourage you to join AAMA if you are not a member already and start enjoying the benefits of membership.
I hope you enjoy your visit to our website.
Candy Miller, CMA (AAMA)
2020 OSMA President
