ABOUT OSMA & AAMA
The Oregon Society of Medical Assistants (OSMA) is the state affiliate of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), working together in a bi-level professional organization dedicated to supporting medical assistants through education, mentorship, professional networking, and advocacy for the profession.
As the state society serving medical assistants throughout Oregon, OSMA provides valuable resources and opportunities that complement the benefits offered by AAMA at the national level. Members enjoy access to educational programs, professional development opportunities, and networking events designed to support career growth and excellence in patient care.
Continuing education is an essential part of maintaining professional credentials. Certified Medical Assistants (CMA® (AAMA)) must earn 60 continuing education units (CEUs) every five years to maintain certification. OSMA uses this website to keep members informed about upcoming educational opportunities and resources for earning the CEUs needed for recertification.
Membership is open to medical assistants, healthcare managers, educators, students, and other healthcare professionals. While many of our members hold the CMA® (AAMA) credential, OSMA welcomes all individuals who support and promote the medical assisting profession.
Educational programs offered by OSMA are available to all medical assistants, with members receiving discounted registration rates and additional membership benefits.

The mission of the Oregon Society of Medical Assistants is to provide the professional Medical Assistant with continuing education, credential recognition, mentoring and networking opportunities and to advocate patient-centered quality health care.

The Oregon Society of Medical Assistants supports credentialed medical assistants who hold status through a National Commission of Certifying Agencies accredited certification program whose credential is current, and who collaborate with all medical care professionals to provide excellent health care in every setting.
